Background

    The Canteen/ Home Association is recognized as a “members only” Social Club by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is NOT A BAR open to the public and is not a IRS 501c19 . (Post or Organization of past or present members of the military.) We adhere to the guidelines, rules and regulations set by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. They include -
       Incorporation Non-profit – PA Statues Title 15
       Non-profit Social Club - IRS 501c7
       LCB – Liquor license , Club and Club catering - PA Code Title 40, Part 1, Chapter 5, Sub chapter F.​

General Membership

      From our By Laws – “Membership in the Brentwood Post #1810 Canteen/Home Association, Incorporated, shall be in accordance with the provisions as set forth in the Department of Pennsylvania Bylaws of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Codes and Statutes and these Bylaws. Brentwood Post# 1810 Canteen/Home Association, Incorporated, membership to consist of:

           1. Current Post 1810 VFW Members

           2.  Current VFW Post 1810 Auxiliary Members***

           3. Social Members***

***  membership only includes Canteen privileges and does not allow for voting or serving as an officer.”​

Leadership 

     The Canteen/ Home Association is governed by a Board, that consists of a President, Senior Vice President, Junior Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary which hold equivalent  elected Post positions. In addition, there are four elected At-large Board Members that serve  2-year terms.

Social Membership 

• You may apply for a Social Membership by completing an application at the Canteen Bar and paying the Membership fee for that year. (sample application below)

• Membership is based on a calendar year from January 1st to December 31st. It is not prorated, and renewals start in November of each year.

• You will need a “sponsor” to sign your application who needs to be a current member of the Canteen/ Home Association.

• Your application will be reviewed and voted on at the next Canteen/ Home Association monthly meeting. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

• Annual dues are set each year by the Board. The 2025 dues are $10.

• When approved, you will receive a Social Membership card with your member number.

• You will have an opportunity to purchase a Fob for entry to the building. Fobs are a onetime, non-refundable charge of $8. They are deactivated if you are not current with your dues.

• Your membership entitles you to participate in the many activities we have in the Canteen Bar. See our Facebook page. You may even sign in a friend for up to 2 visits. You will need to purchase their beverage. Ask the bartender for details.
